Our gut is literally the epicentre for health in our body. If your gut is healthy, so are you! If it’s unhealthy… you are to! Your gut is responsible for:
- Vitamin, mineral and nutrient absorption
- Protection from infections
- 75% of your Immune system
- 95% of your serotonin production
These six functions are absolutely fundamental to our overall health and well-being!
There is an ever-increasing amount of evidence to show that many modern-day chronic illnesses do, in fact, begin in the gut. Our gut flora plays a major role in not only our physical health but is also a key player in our mental and emotional health as well. One of the reasons why your gut has so much influence on your health has to do with the 100 trillion bacteria–about three pounds worth–that line your intestinal tract. This is an extremely complex living system that aggressively protects your body from outside offenders. If this complex living system becomes out of balance, it influences our health in a big way…
- inflammatory bowel disease
- type 2 diabetes
- Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
…to name a few are all are said to have the same root cause – poor gut health. Basically, when things go wrong in the gut microbiota, something goes wrong with us.
