Giving Back
From Farms to Forks
Excited to be on the committee for this organization that celebrates the treasures and talent of our local food and culinary communities. A kitchen party at its best — From Farms to Forks brings together local chefs, growers, and makers to curate an evening of tasting plates and pairings to support our mission of connecting chefs, kids, and communities to foster systemic change towards healthy, sustainable, and just food practices.

Growing Chefs
My time in the classroom with @alexjaragon, teaching little ones all about gardening and food, was nothing short of amazing! Watching their faces light up as they learned about composting, met their wiggly worm friends (kids LOVE worms!), and watched and cared for their seeds as they begin to sprout and grow was the best feeling. These kids constantly impressed and amused us with their curiosity, questions, and sense of wonder. It was an honour to spend two years delivering the 3-month Growing Chefs program—planting seeds of knowledge that will continue to grow long after the classroom.”

Fresh Roots
From the classroom to the farm….Millside Centre School yard farm. Where I get to dig in and be a part of youth learning everything food! Seed to table at its best. Planting, harvesting and preparing the food for weekly markets. Fresh Roots grows their farms in partnership with the Vancouver School Board and School District 43. Fresh Roots mission is to ‘cultivate educational farms and place-based programs where youth develop healthy relationships with food, land and community through growing and sharing food that nourishes themselves, their communities and the planet!”
